The European Union through the Southern African Development Community (SADC) under the GCCA+ project supports the Terrestrial Restoration Action Society (TRASS) to restore degraded lands on Praslin Island, Seychelles through a project entitled ‘Community-led rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems using an Ecosystem-based and Ridge to Reef approach, Praslin, Seychelles’ being implemented jointly by TRASS and Gaea Seychelles.

To rehabilitate 20ha of degraded land, the local communities were engaged including plant propagation in nurseries and replanting activities. Most of the activities are undertaken by volunteers from the affected communities and in collaboration with government departments, the private sectors and other groups within the communities.
